Overview
The Amazon Rainforest, also known as the “lungs of the Earth,” is the largest tropical rainforest in the world, covering over 5.5 million square kilometers (2.1 million square miles). Spanning nine countries, the majority of the forest is in Brazil’s Amazonas state, with the Amazon River flowing through it.
Home to an estimated 10% of the world’s biodiversity, the Amazon is filled with exotic wildlife, including jaguars, pink river dolphins, macaws, anacondas, and thousands of plant species. The river itself is the second-longest in the world and carries more water than any other river on Earth.
For adventurers, the Amazon offers unforgettable experiences like boat tours, jungle treks, wildlife spotting, indigenous cultural visits, and night safaris.
